CLIMATE: Greece has a warm Mediterranean climate overall. The climate tends to be warmer in the southern part of the country with mostly dry days throughout summer and wet, cold days during winter. Overall, the average daytime temperature in peak summer season is about 77ºF and about 50ºF in winter. Many of the Greek islands have much milder temperatures due to the prevailing winds. For example, the popular destination of Mykonos has average temperatures of about 67ºF year-round.
MONEY/CURRENCY (CREDIT CARDS, DEBIT CARDS, TIPPING, ATMS): The main currency is the Euro (EUR) and credit and debit cards are also widely accepted. It is recommended to also carry some cash for smaller towns and less touristic areas.
Tipping is not common among locals but has become expected of tourists. Plan to tip 10-15% in cash to your restaurant servers. You should also plan to round up a taxi bill and tip about one Euro per bag with a porter. Guides that offer a great experience would likely warrant a tip of about 10% of your tour cost.
ELECTRICITY: Greece uses European plugs, C and F. The voltage is 230 volts and 50Hz.
